A bowtie tree is an ascending family tree in the shape of a bow tie.
Technically, the bowtie tree is a classic ascending family tree that is cut in two vertically in its center, and each part of which tilts respectively 90° to the left and 90° to the right.
Thus, we find the de cujus centered at the bottom, his paternal ancestry on the left half and his maternal ancestry on the right half.
Unlike a "classic" ascending tree that takes a "roll" shape, this bowtie representation makes it possible to considerably reduce its width to finally be able to remain in a standard format (A4, A3, A2, A1 ...).
Bowties family trees designed by WFTB start from the de cujus and go back to both parents with each generation.
